Seeing the Data come in
If you see a case appear in the orange list and the count in that list is increasing then this means that the family are active right now.
If you go to the Family Portal section in FreeDAM then you will be able to see the data come in as they enter it.
This is not in the same order as in other areas of FreeDAM.
i.e not in the same order or separated into the same areas as the BDM screen.
This is because the family portal has been created to be family centric rather than funeral director centric. So there is a separate section for the mother and a separate section for the father. There is a separate section for the birth details of the deceased.
This cuts down on the sheer amount of data for the family to look at/enter at a time and also structures the data in a better way for the family to understand. It also allowed us to give you the flexibility to hide groups of data in a meaningful way if required.
It made sense for us to make the reviewing of this data to be grouped and ordered in the same way as the family sees it.
So does the data just go straight into FreeDAM?
No – this is too dangerous.
The family Contributions/Review section allows you curate the data first.
It could be that ‘auckand’ was entered instead of ‘Auckland’.
This review process allows you to correct this easily.
see Accepting the Data into FreeDAM for more on how to do this.
Why do I see the data live
The reason for this is that there is no save to click for the family.
Each field autosaves when they exit the field or after a small time delay.
See The Family View for more on this.
Cool Aye!
