Navigation Icons – FreeDAM Help

	Switch to the phone interface The FreeDAM app contains the phone and the desktop views You are able to switch to the phone view by clicking this icon

	Edit an Item This will appear at the far right in table row where data is displayed. Clicking this will popup a box to allow you to change that data contained in that row.
	Open Google Maps When you see this at the end of a ‘Street’ field FreeDAM will open a new window and send this to google maps for you.
	Up and Down arrows These are usually in lists in the preferences. Clicking these will move the item up or down in the list.
	Drag Icon This is usually in lists in the preferences. clicking and dragging this icon will allow you to move the item up or down in the list.
	Refresh Icon As we cache lists, clicking this icon will force a refresh of the list/s so that you have the latest. This may appear elsewhere in the software where you may need to refresh something.
	Help Icon We have written help tips in the software. These tips can be on a screen in general or at the end of a field.
	Search Icon This is the universal icon for search and in FreeDAM this is also what it means.
	Print Icon This will ‘Print’ a PDF. All documents/reports in FreeDAM are produced via PDF
	Download Icon This the universal symbol for downloading something and in FreeDAM this is also what it means.
	Signature Icon This is used on the PDF view when printing a document. It allows you to sign a PDF using your mouse, or if you are on a touch screen device, your finger or stylus.
	Email Icon Click this to compose an email message.
	Add Text This is used on the PDF view when printing a document. It allows you to add text to the PDF.
	Image Icon Use this for adding an image. This is used on the PDF view when printing a document. It allows you to add a saved ‘signature’ image to the PDF.
	Edit Icon This is sometimes used to indicate that an item can be edited. i.e A file saved against a case
	Close Icon This is used to close a view in FreeDAM. i.e. this appears at the top right of the pdf view when printing a document.
	Date Picker This allows you to easily choose a date and appears at the end of any date field.
	Possible People Picker This will allow you to pick from people that are already associated with a case. i.e If the Next of Kin has been entered then you can use this icon in the account address to set the account address to the Next of Kin, This can save you time on data entry
	Possible Address Picker This will allow you to pick from addresses that are already associated with a case. i.e If the Next of Kin has been entered then you can use this icon in the account address to set the account address to the Next of Kin, This can save you time on data entry
	Trash can This the universal symbol for delete and in FreeDAM this is also what it means.
	Diacritic characters / Accents Keep an eye our for this at the end of name fields. These are the various little dots and squiggles which, in many languages, are written above, below or on top of certain letters of the alphabet to indicate something about their pronunciation. Clicking this allows you to add these to the text in the field. Only the characters accepted by BDM will be displayed.
	Collapse/Expand Icons These are used where there is more hidden information to show. Clicking these will open or close a panel to display or hide the information

	Fold in or out Icons These are used on the side list and the top card. Clicking these will ‘fold’ up the data to give you more room to work If you are using the desktop interface in front of a family, then ‘folding’ the left side list will hide any other cases in the list/s.
	Report a Bug Clicking on this will pop up a box for you to report a bug or ask us a question. We get notified of this instantly.
	Copy to Clipboard You are able to copy the corresponding data into the clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere This may appear on a screen or within a field
	Birthday/Age calculator Enter two dates and FreeDAM will calculate the age for you. Keep an eye out for this in date fields.
	GST calculator You are able to enter the inclusive or exclusive value and this calculator will give you the corresponding value. You are then able to click the copy icon in the field to copy the result to the clipboard.
	Open in New Tab This will open a new tab in your browser and load the related case.
	Person Icon This may appear in the children’s age fields and can be used to automatically fill in the age of the children IF you have them recorded (and their birth dates) as family against a case.
	Bell Icon Used on the invoice screens as reminders. Clicking this will display a list of items that you may need to add to an invoice.
	Toggle Icon Used to indicate one of two states. For example this is used on events for indicating if the event is ‘Complete’ or not.
	Print Icon This is used in lists to indicate that the line in the list is able to be printed. i.e This icon on the receipt line on the transactions screen will print a receipt.
	Newspaper Icon Clicking on this will give you a list of saved newspaper notices for the case that you may wish to use elsewhere in the software. i.e the Funeral Stream description field.
	QR Code Icon When clicked will display the QR code associated with a web address. This is used on the Charities screen but may also appear elsewhere in the future.
